Every fall, Medicare Advantage (MAPD) and Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) members receive an important piece of mail called the Annual Notice of Change, or ANOC. It's easy to set aside with the rest of the mail — but it's actually one of the most useful documents you'll receive all year, and we don't want you to miss it.

Per CMS guidelines, every MAPD and PDP plan is required to mail out ANOC letters by September 30 each year, so if you have Medicare coverage, keep an eye on your mailbox — yours is likely already on its way, if it hasn't arrived already.

What Is It?

Your ANOC outlines exactly how your plan is changing starting January 1. It walks you through how this year's costs and benefits compare to next year's, so you're never caught off guard.

Why It's Worth a Few Minutes of Your Time

Even a plan you've loved this year can look a little different next year:

  • Costs shift — premiums, deductibles, and copays can go up or down
  • Drug coverage changes — your medications could move to a different pricing tier or drop off the formulary
  • Benefits move — extras like dental, vision, or transportation may expand or shrink
  • Plans can be discontinued — if yours is, you'll need to choose a new one

Already a Client? We've Got You Covered

You don't have to read through your ANOC alone. Give us a call and we're happy to walk through it together and make sure your plan still fits your needs. In the meantime, it's a great idea to:

  • Check your medications against the new formulary
  • Confirm your medical providers will continue to accept your plan in 2027
  • Mark your calendar for the Annual Enrollment Period, which runs October 15 – December 7

Medicare coverage isn't something you set once and forget — it changes every year, and it helps to have someone in your corner who reviews it with you annually, not just during enrollment. That's exactly what we're here for.
